The Windows HPGL driver will allow you to create an HPGL file to import into Plotmaster by using the “Print” feature of your design software. If you are using Windows NT, 2000, or XP, use the Mutoh HPGL Driver instructions. If you are running Windows ME or earlier, use the Windows HPGL Driver instructions. In this case, installing an HPGL print driver may allow you to “print” your CAD files to an HPGL file, which can then be imported into the Plotmaster software.

Some software does not offer a facility to export to a file format that is compatible with the Carlson cutter. We are also able to write custom export/import features if needed. If your program is not featured and you would like custom instructions, please let us know. We will be adding additional program specific instructions regularly.

We have worked with many, many CAD programs, so check with us first, as we may already have specific instructions. For some programs, you may need to do some experimentation with saving your drawing as different DXF versions, and try different combinations of import functions. As such, almost every implementation is different. The DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) file format is very loosely standardized. You can configure most CAD programs or Windows to output the plot files to file rather than a port. HPGL (Hewlett-Packard Graphics Language) is a widely recognized plotter output from CAD programs.
